    Who You Are

    TSC is seeking an experienced Deputy Director of Flight Test with a minimum of 7 years demonstrated experience in flight test supporting principles and processes in an aircraft and spacecraft development, testing, and customer delivery environment.

    Your Mission


    In concert with the Director of Flight Test and at their direction:

    • Oversee and manage flight test programs and teams
    • Ensure that all projects, initiatives, and processes are in conformity with the organization’s established policies and objectives.  Utilize best practices and methods to provide expert technical guidance.  Develops major process improvement goals to support broad functional objectives.
    • Mentor flight test engineering team
    • Direct control room development and training
    • Develop flight test engineer aircrew members in coordination with VG Ops
    • Lead development of flight test plans and test cards
    • Act as the central focal point and authority for execution of the test tasks and goals
    • Formulate and clearly communicate overall program strategy, objectives, and plans, and leads team with clarity and purpose
    • Coordinate the development of flight limitations (FOLDS) based on intimate understanding of vehicle(s)’ analysis.
    • Monitor and report to management the progress of each functional element of the assigned product responsibility in terms of work, schedule and cost performance
    • Track and manage the product engineering risks – identifies potential issues and problems that could impact program performance, and takes proactive action to resolve issues regarding cost and schedule.
    • Support new initiatives and proposals for additional and external work.
    • Maintain an effective and clear organization design that adapts over time to personnel, program, and company direction.  Lead by example with respect to straight up, transparent and open communication (up, down, sideways).   Facilitate culture that is empowered, true to brand values, quality, performance, and continuous improvement. 
    • Manage critical external relationships; independent review teams, agencies, suppliers, customers.
    • Recruit qualified employees who are competent and capable of performing the tasks assigned to them.  Development of personnel development programs for the betterment of both the employee and the company, providing training and technical leadership to appropriate personnel regarding methods, standards, procedures, safety and company practices.  Identify succession plans.  Grow the team as required to support current and future programs.

    What you bring


    • BA/BS degree in STEM field required, MA/MBA/MS preferred
    • 7+ years of specifically relevant experience
    • Experience with flight test and/or development programs, as well as with aircraft production/manufacturing programs
    • Demonstrated hands-on knowledge of flight test
    • Strong experience resolving technical, schedule and cost problems related to the assigned program/product responsibility
    • Effective leadership skills, including being an excellent listener and motivator
    • Assertive self-starter, with the ability to accomplish goals outside of their functional group
    • Working knowledge of aircraft and space systems and familiarity with relevant aerospace standards (FAA, FAA‐AST etc.).
    • Excellent organizational skills and problem solving skills
    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Access.
    • Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).

     Preferred Skills and Experience

    • Graduate of military or civilian Test Pilot School or equivalent educational or employment experience

    To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
