    Who You Are

    The Spaceship Company is seeking a Configuration Design Engineer with broad based technical experience in aircraft conceptual and preliminary design.  The Configuration Design Engineer will support a wide range of projects within our Advanced Design team perfoming concept level design and layout, development of trade studies and supporting new business proposals.  You will find yourself amongst the best and brightest while being part of a pioneering organization!

    Your Mission

    • Perform concept level design and layout activities across a wide variety of company products
    • Perform trade studies (weight, performance, structural sizing) along with modification of existing aircraft to include propulsion trades, payload trade
    • Develop preliminary designs for new business proposals.
    • Participate in customer presentations, development of engineering reports, specifications and proposals

    What you bring

    • Bachelor’s Degree in related Engineering field; advanced degree preferred
    • 7 or more years' experience in aircraft or spacecraft preliminary design  
    • Experience with aircraft design through flight test preferred
    • Broad-based technical expertise and ability to work cross-functionally across all elements of aircraft development
    • CAD experience essential; CATIA V5 preferred
    • Nice to have mature aircraft modification experience 
    • Experience with Model Based Definition, 2D drawing creation
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills
    • Strong team player
    • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
    • Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, Military Specifications or NASA are highly desired

    ITAR Requirements

    To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
