    Who You Are

    Integrates engine thrust decks with vehicle performance tools.  Creates and maintains internal aerodynamics models.  Performs performance trades as required.  Works closely with all parties to ensure all performance, cost and scheduling goals are met. The Air Breathing Propulsion Engineer will coordinate with key stakeholders – Chief Engineer, Engineering Functional Managers, Program Management, Production, Supply Chain, Flight Test, Maintenance, etc., – to complete engineering activities in accordance with Program requirements.

    Your Mission

    • Creates and maintains internal aerodynamics models
    • Integrates engine thrust decks with vehicle performance tools
    • Capable of creating design requirements, validating them, and decomposing them into an integrated verification plan for compliance/certification.
    • Contribute to conceptual and preliminary design trades of varying complexity and document results of work.
    • Capable of interpreting engineering schematics to drive detail designs.
    • Capable of amending engineering definition of aircraft system architectures based on records from a prototype program.
    • Contributes to the creation of test plans in order to verify design intent, requirements and functionality.
    • Work closely with flight test, operations, pilots, and other team members to resolve technical issues and support the continued airworthiness of air vehicles.
    • Working knowledge of industry best practices; including design specifications (commercial and DOD), regulatory guidance (FAA AC), and aerospace recommended practices.
    • Expected to present work and technical findings to management and senior leadership through design reviews and program milestones where appropriate.

    What you bring

    • BS/MS/PhD in Aerospace Engineering
    • 6+ years of experience in preliminary design, performance and/or integration of gas turbine engines.  Willingness to adapt and cross-train is a must.
    • Experience with CFD and Fluid mechanics
    • Experience with aircraft engine technology and systems including turbofan, turboprop, and turbojet engines
    • Experience developing propulsion system requirements
    • Experience with flight and ground testing
    • Experience with 3D Solid Modeling (Catia specifically) is recommended.
    • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management tools is a plus
    • Strong team player with quality organization and pragmatic problem solving skills.
    • Expected to work independently as well with supervision given general guidance.
    • Experience with flight vehicles or vehicle systems certification to commercial standards (14 CFR Part 23 or 25) and/or military/government standards (DOD or NASA) is preferred.
