Who we are

The Spaceship Company (TSC) is an affiliate of Virgin Galactic as a space-system manufacturing organization. Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system. Like many Virgin companies across the world, its team of over 350 talented and dedicated engineers, technicians and professionals are drawn together by a willingness to disrupt and challenge the status quo and deliver innovative aerospace solutions to our customers’ needs. TSC’s extensive capabilities encompass preliminary vehicle design and analysis, manufacturing, ground testing, flight testing and post-delivery support.

Our Values
TSC and the greater Virgin Organization have a relaxed and informal culture that encourages individuality and innovation.  You will be motivated, enterprising and enthusiastic.  Company culture is such that you need to be able to “check your ego at the door”, be a self-starter and possess a sense of humility.  You will work well under pressure and thrive on being given challenges and responsibility.  You will communicate clearly and be confident and persuasive. You will have a high level of integrity and understand the need of complete confidentiality.

Who You Are

TSC is seeking a mechanical, aerospace, or reliability engineer experienced in aerospace vehicle systems requirements verification. The primary task for the person will be to review the current systems architecture, designs, analysis, and test plans/data to develop verification plans for all systems. Many of these verification plans will expand down to the component level. The person will establish the appropriate mix of analysis, test, demonstration, similarity, and inspection for each component and system to verify that the hardware is acceptable for commercial service.

Your Mission

  • Review the current system schematics and designs related to SS2
  • Review the analysis and test data (includes flight test) associated with the systems designs
  • Review all supplier reliability information/data
  • Review the SS2 system requirements document
  • Develop a verification plan for all systems and associated component hardware
  • Support TSC coordinating analysis and testing consistent with the verification plans

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution with a concentration in Aeronautical, Astronautical, Aerospace, Mechanical, or Reliability Engineering
  • Mechanical systems test and analysis experience
  • Experience working with and interpreting various FAR requirements
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Experience applying logic and rational thought to establish appropriate verification plans.  The verification requirements are not dictated by the FAA, so this person will need to use common sense and reasonableness to establish appropriate plans.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.  Excellent organizational and time-management skills, strong team player.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office:  Word, Excel, PowerPoint
