The Spaceship Company (TSC) is an affiliate of Virgin Galactic as a space-system manufacturing organization.

Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system. Who You Are

Are you an experienced Human Resource Professional who is authentic and creative in being a true business partner? This role will be an integral part of creating the People & Culture programs, balancing employee advocacy and business needs. Ensuring genuine connections are made with all teammates to assist in implementing the right initiatives to accelerate performance, minimize distractions, and provide hands-on tactical solutions and strategic guidance.


This position will be based in Mojave California.

Your Mission

  • Develop positive employee relations across the organization
  • Maintain good communication and positive relationships with employees to promote employee satisfaction and ensure positive working environment
  • Advise, guide and support leadership staff in the areas of documentation, disciplinary action, policy administration, and improving employee morale
  • Assist with ensuring supervisors are on task with completing purpose driven check-ins
  • Investigate misconduct and recommend appropriate action in a timely manner ensuring company policies are administered fairly and consistently
  • Use sound judgment around issues that may have adverse effects on the business from an employee relations perspective. Ensuring compliance with all state and federal employment regulations.
  • Remain current on federal, state and local personnel laws and act proactively to recommend company People policies
  • Analyze Business Intelligence (BI) data and collaborate with leadership around opportunities for improvement.
  • Conduct meetings and presentations to management and executive staff as needed around root cause corrective actions and process improvements
  • Understand TSC’s business plan objectives and the impact of this role in growing our teams
  • Serve as a corporate liaison to assist company-wide initiatives such as: wellness, retention, engagement, and culture
  • Work closely with other People Partners in a wide variety of tasks including benefits, recruitment, onboarding, safety/workers comp, leave of absences, culture & wellness.

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s in Human Resources Management, Behavioral Sciences or other related field required.
  • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP or other relevant certification is a plus.
  • Emotional Intelligence (EQ) training experience preferred.
  • At least 7-10 years of professional human resources experience required, ideally in start-up aerospace, engineering, or manufacturing environments.
  • Practical and significant experience in conflict resolution, performance acceleration and employee relations at all levels of a complex organization.
  • Comprehensive and thorough knowledge of California legal compliance
  • Collaborative team player with excellent written and oral communication skills that demonstrate a proven ability to develop relationships with a range of internal and external stakeholders, both in-person and virtually.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task.
  • Disciplined self-starter with can-do attitude; proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills.
  • Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as experience with HRIS systems, preferably with some knowledge of Artificial Intelligence (AI).
  • Strong work ethic, steadfast integrity and strident on privacy issues.
  • Flexible and adaptable in an ever changing and exciting environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving processes and programs.

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
