Who You Are

The primary purpose of the Project Engineer (PE) role is to assist and work in coordination with the Chief Engineer (CE) to complete the engineering design, development, testing and qualification of the SS2-003/-004 vehicles. In this role the PE supports the CE in the technical design of the vehicle and to manage the cross-functional engineering team required to complete individual projects within the program. The PE will coordinate with key stakeholders – Chief Engineer, Engineering Functional Managers, Program Management, Production, Supply Chain, Flight Test, Maintenance, etc., – to complete engineering activities in accordance with Program requirements.  



Your Mission

  • Work with Chief Engineer and Program leadership to develop program specific and department wide processes
  • Work with other project engineer(s) and engineering discipline leads for the program to develop, plan and track execution of product verification and documentation efforts for SS2-003/-004
  • Manage requirement database for SS2-003/-004 in support of the customer, PM and CE for each vehicle
  • Include requirement database management, process oversight, requirement generation and validation in coordination with the engineering discipline leads and subject matter experts for SS2-003/-004
  • Work with engineering discipline leads for the program, to ensure each disciple has a clear path with an agreed on schedule and budget through flight test, and Commercial Service
  • Apply active leadership and management of the critical path
  • Ensure connectivity among disciple teams (dependencies)
  • Use a Project Management Professional skillset, to make SS2-003/-004 a more successful program
  • Act on behalf of the Chief Engineer and Program leadership as requested in support of meetings and briefings
  • Assist and lead as necessary the organization and integration of technical review materials for major milestones
  • Execute other duties as assigned in support of overall success of the SS2-003/-004 program

What you bring

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering or similar Engineering discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Experience with composite structure and/or mechanical systems design
  • Possess a broad understanding of the different disciplines that support the designs and builds of aircraft
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and empower a team of subject matter experts in varying technical disciplines
  • Understanding of aircraft design and engineering processes, including Model Based Definition, Produce Lifecycle Management, Configuration Management, Configuration Control, ERP and MRP systems
  • Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, military or NASA
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint
  • Ability to execute strategic goals and objectives in support of the overall company goals and objectives
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • Is a team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
