The Spaceship Company (TSC) is an affiliate of Virgin Galactic as a space-system manufacturing organization. Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system. Who You Are

TSC is seeking an engineer with experience in one or more of the following areas: fluid systems, high pressure valves, or pressure relief devices for rocket engines. Ideally this candidate will have experience with flight hardware, and rocket motor qualification and acceptance. Candidate will also be comfortable working in a hands on environment, and must have a strong sense of accountability.

Your Mission

  • Perform fluid systems sizing, material and component selection within program requirements
  • Define, plan and execute fluid, structural and environmental qual and acceptance testing
  • Define and write component installation and maintenance documentation
  • Assist in vendor selection, design definition, and vendor management
  • Travel as needed to support component vendor management
  • Support acceptance testing data reduction and post fire/flight inspections

What you bring


  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 5+ years relevant industry experience
  • Project/subcontract management experience
    Experience with aerospace/rocket fluid systems
  • Knowledge of fluid systems sizing and analysis
  • Experience specifically with high pressure rocket engine valves and relief devices a strong plus
  • Experience with CATIA V5 and/or Solidworks a strong plus
  • Experience with the design of flight vehicles or vehicle systems to a set of requirements or standards such as CFR 14, Part 400, Part 23 and 25, military or NASA
  • Excellent organizational, communication and problem solving skills
    Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and Powerpoint
  • You must be interested in advancing the state of commercial space technology, specifically ground breaking, cost effective, passenger carrying, rocket propulsion systems. The Virgin Galactic spaceline is counting on TSC to set the gold standard for safety, reliability and performance.


ITAR Requirements

To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
