Position Summary

Virgin Galactic (VG) is seeking a Fleet Coordinator with experience in private fleet asset management, operational coordination, and maintenance planning. This unique role will provide and plan logistical support to the Virgin Galactic Spaceline as well as supporting departments and organizations. This is a full-time position at Virgin Galactic’s Mojave, CA test flight facility with permanent relocation to Virgin Galactic’s base of operations, Spaceport America / Las Cruces, NM.

Your Mission

This position is responsible for the general upkeep, licensing and registration, DOT and DMV compliance, maintenance scheduling, and logistical coordination of Virgin Galactic’s private Ground Vehicle Fleet. The Fleet Coordinator will liaise with many internal and external stakeholders and is expected to display the highest standards of professionalism with an exceptional customer service delivery.

  • Ensure all Fleet Vehicles are mechanically sound and available for dispatch.
  • Responsible for maintenance planning and execution using MRO software and coordinating tasks/repairs through internal and external maintenance facilities.
  • Responsible for vehicle check out and key management systems at multiple locations
  • Responsible for fleet fuel card program by monitoring usage, addressing card issues, collecting receipts, card auditing, and invoice reconciliation.
  • Monitor and ensure commercial vehicle and driver compliance for CADOT, NMDOT, and FMCSA Title 49.
  • Responsible for upkeep of the CADMV Employer Pull Notice program
  • Conduct initial & recurrent training for Fleet Vehicle Policy, basic maintenance, vehicle operation, and vehicle usage to all new hires and existing employees.
  • Responsible for upkeep of Fleet Vehicle and Approved Driver databases
  • Responsible for coordinating new vehicle deliveries and exchanges from multiple locations while ensuring all proper documentation is completed.
  • Work with all departments to guarantee all vehicle requirements are met for normal work days, flight weeks, customer needs, and special events.
  • Uphold policies and procedures as set by the Fleet Manager and Fleet Director
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

What you bring

Basic Qualifications

  • Must have High School diploma or GED
  • Must have valid Driver’s License
  • Must have two or more years in Fleet Management or in a relevant role
  • Management or Planning position.  
  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must demonstrate superior customer service skills
  • Must have knowledge of computers and software: MS Word, MS Excel, MS Outlook
  • Must have experience in Fleet or Asset Management software.
  • Must be willing to work flexible hours and work any shift, including weekends
  • Must be willing to relocate permanently to vicinity of Spaceport America in New Mexico

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Associate of Science in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or relevant
  • Two years personnel supervisory experience
  • Experience in Commercial Fleet Vehicle and/or Driver management
  • Automotive maintenance experience as technician or first line supervisor
  • Current Commercial Driver’s License

Physical and/or Additional Requirements

  • Must be highly organized and able to handle stressful situations
  • Must be able to manipulate heavy tooling and equipment, up to 75 lbs.
  • Must be able to sit/stand for extended periods – 8 hours min.


ITAR Requirements

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
