Your Mission

TSC is seeking an incredibly talented, energetic, personable, and experienced IT Software Asset Management Specialist to join our Information Technology team. The IT Software Asset Management Specialist’s primary function will be to ensure company software assets are utilized with utmost efficiency, license compliance, and optimal cost savings. Your position will be crucial in ensuring employees whose productivity relies on the smooth operation and capability of software can perform their work to the utmost of their ability. The role comprises a wide variety of responsibilities including many complex and technical in nature. The ideal candidate will be capable of working in a fast paced environment with many quick turn-around tasks and projects assigned daily. They must be comfortable working under minimal supervision and performing many responsibilities simultaneously. We are looking for a self-starter, someone who is project oriented, able to assess needs, implement processes, and quickly produce results with a high attention to detail. Prior experience in a fast-paced technical environment is a plus.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide expertise in terms of Software Asset Management life cycle, to include participation in the analysis and design or redesign of:
    • Existing Software Asset Management and Compliance processes
    • Software request process
    • License pooling & checks
    • License deployment and retirement (sun-setting)
  • Create and manage the requisite repositories for the tracking of licenses purchased and relevant software maintenance contracts.
  • Identify and advise management and technical teams on license entitlements derived from deployed software.
  • Provide software usage analysis outlining potential efficiencies and cost savings using OpenLM and other tools.
  • Initiate internal audits to ensure compliance, handle end users licensing issues and coordinate software retirement/sun-setting.
  • Develop working relationships across multiple departments and the necessary business units to support software asset management throughout its lifecycle.
  • Work with department leads to assess new software versions and capabilities, develop testing cycles and work with the IT Team on deployment, documentation and support of installed software.
  • Develop working relationships with software vendors to leverage available resources such as free onsite training/lunch and learn, assistance with usage analysis, assessment of software features and comparison with competing vendors, and capture of all entitled services within maintenance agreements.
  • Analyze and suggest best practices for software asset management.
  • Other related duties may be assigned.

What you bring

  • Minimum three (3) years of Software Asset Management is required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Minimum 2 years of experience providing face to face customer service
  • Excellent computer skills including demonstrated advanced skills with Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Bachelors in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • Familiarity with Information Technology terminology
  • Familiarity with Engineering software titles, capabilities, and terminology
  • Coursework in IT related fields is a plus
  • Ability to carry out a variety of project related tasks independently from general instructions
  • Willing to learn new skills and grow with the department
  • A superb customer service style and the ability to take on any task to support the team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Software Asset Management knowledge and experience including software licensing, software asset management policies and procedures, and procurement lifecycles. Experience with software discovery data and software usage data.

Software:

  • Large enterprise software asset management, license compliance and software license optimization solution with systems such as OpenLM, Dell K1000.
  • Knowledge of licensing and configuration of Engineering software such as: Siemens FEMAP/NASTRAN, HyperSizer, Matlab, Abaqus, National Instruments Software, MSC, etc.
  • Knowledge of licensing and configuration of Office Productivity Software from vendors such as Microsoft and Adobe.

Operating Systems:

  • WINDOWS - LINUX - UNIX - iOS - MAC - VIRTUAL

Hardware:

  • Cloud, Datacenter, Server, Desktop, Laptop & Mobile Platforms

General:

  • Bachelor degree in IT, Business or related field
  • 5 or more years of experience providing support, asset management, and service in an IT department
  • Expert working knowledge of all Microsoft Windows & Office technologies (Windows 7/8/10 as well as Office/Outlook/Excel/Word, PowerPoint, and Sharepoint)
  • Previous experience working for an Aerospace Company

Physical and/or Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work all shifts and available for overtime as well as weekends when needed.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and able to maneuver in tight spaces.
  • Ability to routinely lift 15-30 lbs., and occasionally lift and move up to 40 lbs.

  • To conform to U.S. Government space technology export regulations, applicant must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident of the U.S., protected individual as defined by ITAR (22 CFR §120.15) or eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
