The Spaceship Company (TSC) is Virgin Galactic’s wholly owned space-system manufacturing organization. Who You Are
As a Security Manager you will be accountable for physical security support, use of the access control and closed circuit television systems, assist in coordinating site visits and ensuring the proper security protocols are followed, assist with the Corporate Emergency Response Plans (ERP), building and enforcing general security policies and procedures, and assisting with contract security oversight. This role is for a hands-on person with great attention to detail and excellent people skills. This is a full-time position at the TSC facility in Mojave, California.

Your Mission

  • Select, supervise, coach, develop and lead the security team to ensure consistent, high quality service.
  • Develops and initiates standards, processes, procedures and methods for security
  • Suggests and implements changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase security and efficiency of shop, department, or work crews
  • Initiates or suggests plans to motivate workers to achieve security goals.
  • Interfaces with other Departments and the internal Trainer to develop and implement training programs as required.
  • Administratively maintain site security access control systems, closed circuit television, and multi-modal emergency notification system.
  • Completes appropriate notification and documentation for security related incidents and investigates root cause.
  • Coordinates with other team members on site visits, special events and escorts as needed.
  • Enforces enterprise security policies through training, awareness, company communications and regular team meetings.
  • Takes an active role for special event planning within the enterprise to help determine security needs.
  • Assists in gathering data to build metrics.
  • Is able to start an investigation when an incident is reported and work with a team to understand root cause of incident.
  • Provides assistance for an internal audit system for both emergency preparedness and security programs.
  • Assist in maintaining a proactive annual safety and security plans that provide solutions necessary to build and sustain a world‐class safety and security culture

What you bring

  • 7+ years of experience in corporate security, aviation security, military police or special operations.
  • Professional, positive approach, demonstrated integrity, assertive without being demanding.
  • Demonstrated Self-starter with a willingness to learn new things and substantial flexibility to handle and manage change.
  • In depth understanding of the security techniques and security issues associated with aerospace manufacturing
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, must have the ability to communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to recognize hazardous or potential security problems impacting operations.
  • Ability to coordinate and liaise multiple activities with a culturally diverse audience and throughout all levels of the corporate organization.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule outside the normal business days and hours to support operations or special events.
  • Ability to respond to serious emergency situations, but 24/7 on‐call is not required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel software applications.
  • Excellent written and verbal skills with the ability to develop and deliver articulate presentations to groups of all sizes and levels; technical writing experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, criminal justice, emergency management or equivalent work experience highly desired.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Certifications or similar within security or emergency management is beneficial (i.e. Threat Management, ICS, NIMS)
