The Spaceship Company (TSC) is Virgin Galactic’s wholly owned space-system manufacturing organization. Headquartered at Mojave Air and Space Port in Mojave, California, it is building and testing a fleet of WhiteKnightTwo carrier aircraft and SpaceShipTwo reusable spaceships that, together, form Virgin Galactic’s human spaceflight system. Your Mission

Leadership Competencies. Must demonstrate effective HR leadership and build strong credible relationships with peers, management, and employees. Must have working knowledge/experience of Talent Acquisition management components such as staffing, training, compensation, performance management, change leadership, organizational design/development and workforce planning.

 

Project Management. Proposes and participates in development of a course of action to support business initiatives. Implements and improves HR recruitment processes or service offerings to meet business objectives. Responsible for process improvements and challenging the status quo. Will independently lead and deliver on-time completion of projects with minimum supervision.

 

Performance Management. Communicates/Trains recruitment team in the use of ATS processes, systems, policies, and programs. Cultivate a positive work environment and develop employee engagement programs. Practical and significant experience in conflict resolution, performance enhancement and employee relations at all levels of a complex engineering and manufacturing organization.

 

Talent Retention. Analyze recruitment strategy and market value of roles. This may include job posting optimization, recruiting marketing channel development, job board procurement, digital and non-digital employment marketing and comprehensive recruitment campaign planning. Champion talent engagement tools that help with enhancing and/or creating new employee incentives/recognition programs to retain great talent. Provide recruitment counsel and guidance to hiring managers and HR professionals with hiring and employment data. May develop specialized or competitive intelligence and research in regards to talent development or retention.

 

Employee Relations. Helps resolve moderately complex issues by assessing situations, pulling data to analyze issues, and making proven recommendations. Provide guidance and support to recruitment team in administering HR policies and procedures to ensure that candidates, hiring managers and peers receive fair and reasonable treatment to establish a supportive work environment and to avoid potential legal liabilities. Must have strong conflict resolution experience and knowledge of applicable CA and federal employment labor laws.

 

Other duties include, but are not limited to;

 

  • Deliver high quality candidates on individual requisition load while managing other recruiter(s) to provide the same service.
  • Monitors staffing levels and implements strategies and procedures to assure consistent achievement of succession plans.
  • Align operations plans with business objectives by constantly communicating with leadership and getting ahead of upcoming needs.
  • Manages and develops a team of Recruiters.
  • Leads and handles projects to enhance tools, branding, programs and recruiting process.
  • Prepares monthly, quarterly, and annual reports measuring recruiting efforts against the existing recruiting plan, and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Manages relationships with outside vendors and recruitment partners.
  • Collaborates with recruitment team and other departments to continually assess the effectiveness of recruiting tools and processes.
  • Manage and train on the recruitment process and life-cycle, including initial assessments, interviews, and offers.
  • Screen candidates as appropriate for fellow Recruiters and hiring managers, including but not limited to: resume review, in-depth phone screen, scheduling interviews, etc.
  • Inform candidates of pre-employment requirements, position requirements, location, and salary.
  • Counsel the candidate on corporate benefits, salary, and corporate environment.
  • Coaches team in closing candidates by anticipating and responding to objections and creatively meeting special conditions while being fiscally responsible.
  • Meet regularly with staff to provide progress updates on requisition status, calibrate on targeted candidate profiles, seek out feedback on quality of candidate slates, and align on potential changes in course of action and next steps as necessary.
  • Ability to research and source passive candidates is critical.
  • Use of social media, job boards, Internet sourcing, and other technical means to source candidates for open jobs.
  • Develop college recruiting programs to optimize internship program.
  • Participate in employment events, such as career fairs
  • Use sophisticated applicant tracking systems and other recruiting software and CRM system to track applicants through the selection phase through to on-boarding.

What you bring

Education and Experience. Preferably have a Master’s in HR or Business related degree with 8-10+ years of relevant leadership experience. Preferred experience in a start-up organization or a highly unique leading edge cultural environment. Applicants must be U.S. persons as defined by the ITAR (22 CFR §120.15).

 

Team Building with Integrity. Possess an established track record of developing strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders. Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, steadfast integrity and strident on privacy issues. Flexible and adaptable in an ever changing and exciting environment. Comfortable with ambiguity and evolving processes and programs.

 

Humble Collaboration. Customer service orientated with a passion for seeing individuals/teams succeed. Providing consultative recommendations that result in a win-win for all.

 

Tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Effective communication in formal and informal settings. Must have strong computer and social media navigation skills. Strong skills with the Microsoft Office Suite, as well as experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems. Preferred power use of LinkedIn Recruiter. Experience with leading applicant tracking systems (ATS) such as iCIMs, Ultipro, etc.

Must be self-motivated, detail-oriented individual with strong recruiting skills and experience. Disciplined self-starter with can-do attitude; proactive, resourceful, and detail-oriented with strong follow-through skills.
